Position: Staff Assistant / Permitting Clerk
Department: Building & Zoning Department
Pay Rate: $16-$17 per hour (depending on experience)
The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications for a full-time Staff Assistant / Permitting Clerk within the Building & Zoning Department. This position is responsible for providing administrative and customer service support while assisting the public with permitting and zoning-related processes.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical and organizational skills excellent customer service abilities and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
Work Schedule
Monday Friday
8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience as a Staff Assistant Office Clerk or similar administrative role
- Strong customer service and public interaction experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word Excel and Outlook
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily duties efficiently
- Typing speed of at least 55 words per minute
- Excellent organizational communication and time-management skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with permitting zoning or building department processes
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Answer phones and assist the public professionally and courteously
- Assist customers with permitting applications and procedures
- Support the Building Official with plan review processes
- Handle correspondence emails and phone calls promptly
- Schedule inspections for the Building Official
- Accept and reconcile payments
- Perform general administrative and clerical duties as assigned
