About the role
We are seeking a senior leader to lead the enterprise Responsible AI (RAI) strategy with a focus on embedding Responsible AI practices across the organisation in a way that is practical and scalable.
As Executive Manager Responsible AI you will translate regulatory ethical and organisational expectations into clear standards operational controls and embedded practices across the AI lifecycle.
This is a strategy and execution role requiring strong judgement deep AI governance expertise deep understanding the Responsible AI principles and the ability to influence senior stakeholders in a complex environment.
You will operate at the intersection of AI governance and responsible innovation ensuring AI is deployed responsibly delivers meaningful customer outcomes and contributes positively to the broader community.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and uplift of the end-to-end Responsible AI governance framework covering areas such as transparency bias mitigation explainability etc
- Drive the operationalisation of policies and frameworks embedding clear guardrails across AI development and use including for third-party and internal AI to manage AI risks
- Act as the internal SME on AI regulation and risk frameworks translating regulatory expectations into clear implementable technical and governance requirements (e.g. ISO42001 ISO42005 NIST AI RMF Australian Guidance for AI Adoption)
- Provide senior guidance and decisioning support on Responsible AI risks controls and trade-offs across strategic initiatives and executive forums
- Define and implement technical capabilities that enable Responsible AI by design including evaluation monitoring traceability and auditability
- Uplift and scale governance tooling and processes including leveraging AI to enhance Responsible AI oversight and improve efficiency of governance activities
- Lead AI use case intake triage and preliminary risk assessments partnering with SME and technical teams to assess risks such as explainability and ensure appropriate human-in-the-loop controls etc
- Maintain core enterprise capabilities (e.g. AI inventory monitoring and reporting) to support transparency accountability and effective risk management
- Partner with business and technology teams to ensure AI solutions deliver genuine customer value while meeting ethical and risk expectations
- Act as a senior connector across multiple stakeholders to balance safety compliance and delivery speed and drive a cohesive Responsible AI culture
- Champion ethical AI use including initiatives that deliver positive societal and community outcomes
- Develop and deliver training and organisational uplift on Responsible AI expectations and requirements
Skills & experience
- Demonstrated experience operating at a senior leadership level driving enterprise-wide strategy and execution initiatives
- Strong experience in AI risk governance compliance legal technology or related disciplines within a regulated environment
- Deep understanding of Responsible AI principles and ability to translate them into practical scalable controls
- Strong understanding of AI technologies how they work associated risks and how to manage them (e.g. bias explainability drift misuse)
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes across complex cross-functional environments
- Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks and lifecycle oversight processes
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making capability with sound judgement
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear actionable guidance.
