BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) Nigeria Country Office operates within one of the worlds most complex humanitarian environments where conflict displacement climate shocks and economic pressures continue to drive widespread food insecurity at scale. Largescale assessments operational monitoring and multisectoral interventions therefore depend on robust timely and highquality data to support programme design targeting early warning performance tracking and strategic decisionmaking.
In this context the Data Analyst/Scientist will play a critical role in strengthening the Country Offices analytical capabilities. Under the overall supervision of and reporting directly to the Head of ICT the incumbent will be responsible for enhancing adherence to WFPs corporate data standards supporting the automation and optimization of data workflows and improving the quality consistency and reliability of data across all country operations. The position will contribute to building a more integrated efficient and insightsdriven data ecosystem that supports evidencebased decisionmaking across the Programme and operational units.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
a data strategy for Nigeria Country Office thats aligned to the regional and corporate data strategy. Support CO in the translation and operationalization of the corporate data strategy. Map out a data literacy framework that establishes a vision for data fluency in the Country Office.
and liaison with business functions to identify designate induct and train data champions. Define a framework of responsibilities viz the data coordinator and unit data champions. Identify resourcing and capacity requirements to operationalize the data strategy.
develop and continually improve Country Office analytics and reporting from local and corporate data sources; manage data and the analytics platform; enable Management and business units to make data-driven decisions to inform strategic direction as well as analyze the success of initiatives and their impact to beneficiaries.
build and continually improve dashboards ensuring compliance with Corporate and best practice data visualization standards and frameworks as well as the Country Office communications strategy.
5. Perform user management and support functions; manage and coordinate business unit data needs working closely with supporting and capacity-building their appointed data focal points; draft and update user management standard operating procedures including a comprehensive user/role access control matrix; develop an automated email-based (using Power APPs or low code/no code) user access request self-service tool/workflow.
6. Seek out and strengthen collaboration with peers including the local DAS lead regional data coordinator and HQ teams among other relevant stakeholders to ensure the Country Office data service is effective efficient secure and robust.
7. Establish a secure analytics environment that meets data quality accuracy and Personally Identified Information (PII) confidentiality requirements in accordance with the corporate Guide to Personal Data Protection and Privacy.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Develop a CO data strategy aligned with regional and corporate guidance.
Train data champions and establish a clear data governance structure.
Design and maintain analytics dashboards to support evidencebased decisionmaking.
Manage user access provide ongoing data support and implement automated usermanagement workflows.
Ensure a secure analytics environment that complies with corporate data protection and PII confidentiality requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in one of the following disciplines: Data Science Computer Science and Engineering Information Management Statistics or a related field.
Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience as a data analyst and/or data engineer either in a professional role or in advance academic studies with direct data science applications.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of data modelling techniques applied to both structured and unstructured sets of data.
Experience using visualization tools (preferably Tableau) and setting up dashboards.
Deep knowledge of SQL Python and R.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement ETL processes.
Good report writing and presentation/visualization skills.
Analytical skills and ability to collect organize analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to identify and document business data requirements and develop dashboards that effectively address those needs and support decisionmaking
Ability to communicate with senior management and stakeholders.
Languages:
Fluent in English
