Job Summary

Key Account Manager Marine is responsible for driving profitable growth and strengthening the Hempels market position within the marine coatings segment in East Malaysia and Brunei.

As part of our dynamic team you keep focusing on strategic account management specification selling and project pipeline development working closely with shipyards ship owners/managers distributors and key stakeholders across the region.

Account & Business Development

  • Develop and execute account plans for key customers (shipyards owners/ship managers offshore operators contractors/distributors).

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and technical stakeholders

  • Identify and convert new business opportunities across marine

  • Increase share of wallet within existing accounts.

  • Customer visits and promote our solutions and services

  • Working in a dynamic market by serving our clients based on their needs and requirements

Project & Specification Management

  • Drive specification approvals with owners consultants and yards.

  • Manage the full project lifecycle (tendering execution follow-up).

  • Prepare and negotiate technical proposals quotations and contracts.

  • Ensure alignment with company pricing and profitability targets.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor market trends competitor activities and pricing dynamics.

  • Provide actionable insights to support regional strategy.

  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline and deliver accurate forecasts.

  • Represent Hempel at industry events shipyards and customer meetings across the region.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Technical Service Customer Service Logistics and Finance to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Coordinate with R&D and technical teams to position innovative solutions.

What Are We Looking For

  • University Degree

  • Successful background in sales and negotiation.

  • Sales experienced person (senior) in similar tasks in a Sales / Marketing department would be valuable

  • Good market and customer knowledge (key sales competencies)

  • Understanding the maritime eco system

  • Organised and capable of meeting deadlines

  • Flexible and adaptable attitude

  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.

  • Fluent in Malay & English

  • Usage of CRM

  • Computer skills (Microsoft/D365/Power BI)

  • Valid drivining license
