JOB GOAL:To successfully plan organize implement supervise and evaluate the total operation of the school.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Compensation:$40.00/hour (5 hours per day)
Summer Program Dates:
Professional Development Dates: Specific dates TBD
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least three (3) years successful teaching experience and/or administration.
- A masters degree (minimum).
- Certification as an elementary principal or eligible for certification.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
- Evidence of successful experience with parents and staff involvement in decision making.
- Evidence of successful experience in dealing with student problems.
- Evidence of ability to set priorities supervise and train personnel and make appropriate decisions.
- Evidence of ability to function as a member of an administrative team.
- Evidence of ability to become a competent educational leader in both curriculum and instruction.
- Evidence of the ability to maintain accurate inventories records and reports.
- Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.
- Serves as the chief advisor to theAssistant Superintendents and Teaching and Learning inmatters about the administration and program implementation in his/her school.
- Implements the process whereby school-level educational program needs are identified alerts Assistant Superintendents regarding needed logistical and consultative support in order to accomplish this task.
- Works with staff and patrons to determine educational program priorities and goals for his/her school.
- Oversees the development of educational programs and the plans for implementing them on the school level.
- Seeks the necessary consultative and logistical support to assure effective educational program implementation.
- Monitors program implementation in his/her school.
- Works with supervisor and building staff to make the necessary changes.
- Assumes responsibility for conducting the performance evaluation of assigned personnel.
- Assumes responsibility for all record-keeping and other administrative tasks normally assigned to the principal.

To perform this job successfully the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty successfully. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and downstairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
