Join a passionate and close-knit team delivering person-centred healthcare to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Based in Wallsend this unique service offers a dynamic and flexible environment where no two days are the same.
Youll play a pivotal role as the teams Psychiatrist - supporting other members of the team and helping to ensure seamless service delivery for clients families and clinicians. Capacity building is an important part of the role including education to General Practitioners and NSW Health staff.
About you:
- FRANZCP with specialist registration with AHPRA
- Clinical experience training or interest in intellectual disability
About the service:
The Intellectual Disability Health Service offers:
Comprehensive health assessment and recommendations for a person with intellectual disability who has an unresolved complex or chronic health need that cannot currently be met by accessing usual care pathways including:
- Referrals for other health assessments and health services
- Recommendations for support services
- Dietary advice advice on medication physical activity and social activity
- Advice on managing ongoing care
- Capacity-building for health professionals including: webinars skills training and other education sessions
- Joint consultation case conferences and advice on assessment/care of people with intellectual disability.

- Annual TESL allowance: up to 25 days per year for full-time Staff Specialists
