Job Title: Senior Accountant
Reports To: Chartered Accountant / Finance Lead

Our client in the finance and accountancy industry is looking for a Senior Accountant to support the Chartered Accountant / Finance Lead in managing day-to-day accounting and operational finance functions within a farming-based business environment. The role focuses on ensuring transactional accuracy maintaining strong financial controls tracking production costs managing inventory systems and delivering timely financial and operational reporting. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in agriculture or agribusiness with a strong understanding of production cycles cost structures and operational finance.

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all financial transactions

• Process journals accruals and prepayments as required

• Perform monthly reconciliations including bank creditors debtors fuel and farm inputs

• Ensure all supporting documentation is complete accurate and properly filed

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Track and analyse production costs including seed fertilizer chemicals feed fuel labour and equipment usage

• Allocate costs accurately to crops livestock units and production areas

• Monitor actual spend against approved operational budgets

• Support operational managers with cost tracking and variance analysis

• Maintain costing schedules aligned to planting growing and harvesting cycles

• Maintain accurate records of inputs consumables and supplies

• Track stock movements including fertilizer chemicals feed diesel and spare parts

• Reconcile physical stock counts with system records

• Monitor harvested produce inventory and related sales movements

• Identify and report discrepancies or variances to management

• Capture supplier invoices and ensure correct allocation to cost centres

• Prepare supplier reconciliations and payment schedules

• Monitor customer invoicing and collections processes

• Maintain debtor and creditor age analysis reports

• Liaise with procurement and operations teams on invoice-related queries

• Assist in preparing weekly cash flow and funding requirements

• Monitor petty cash and operational float reconciliations

• Track and record fuel usage and equipment-related costs

• Update and maintain the fixed asset register for machinery and vehicles

• Collaborate with operational managers to understand daily production activities

• Prepare operational cost and performance reports

• Provide financial insights to support input purchasing and production decisions

• Assist with audit preparation including schedules and supporting documentation

• Support statutory reporting and compliance requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or related field

• Part-qualified ACCA CIMA ZICA or equivalent (preferred)

• 3 5 years accounting experience

• Experience in agriculture farming or agribusiness environments (strong advantage)

• Strong understanding of inventory management and cost accounting

• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems

• Understanding of agricultural production cycles and cost drivers

• Ability to work in a hands-on operational environment

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong reconciliation and costing skills

• Ability to work within structured reporting deadlines

• Effective communication with operational teams

• Exposure to crop farming livestock or mixed farming operations
