Job Summary:
The Center for Leadership & Innovation (CLI) seeks a dynamic STEM and Innovation Educator who is ready to inspire the next generation of leaders. This is designed for someone who thrives in a role that merges the responsibilities of an educator curriculum designer coach researcher trainer and thought leader. Internally known as a CLI Coordinator this role calls for a flexible mindset an unyielding passion for continuous learning and a steadfast commitment to fostering innovation.

In this role you will ignite students curiosity and encourage their exploration of STEM subjects nurturing their technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities. You will be instrumental in creating an educational environment that is both innovative and collaborative where students are motivated to discover and learn. Your efforts will help build a culture of curiosity and collaboration empowering students to pursue their passions with confidence.

As a STEM and Innovation Educator you will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technology and innovative teaching methods into the educational experience. Working in a highly collaborative environment you will develop and implement curricula that reflect the latest trends and advancements in STEM education. Your role will also involve coaching and mentoring both students and colleagues providing guidance and support that fosters growth and development.

You will have the opportunity to stay abreast of the latest research in STEM education and continuously seek out new ways to innovate and inspire. A typical week includes:

  • Technology Instruction: Teach technology classes to K-8th grade students.
  • Co-Design and Teach: Collaborate with preschool - 8th grade teachers to integrate STEM and innovation into lessons.
  • Social Innovation: Co-teach the 8th grade Social Innovation course.
  • Professional Development: Design and conduct workshops for STS and external educators.
  • Personal Development: Enhance personal skills through ongoing research and practice.
  • Thought Leadership: Share insights and exemplary work on social media white papers and conferences.
  • Lab Management: Oversee lab materials equipment student projects and the After-School drop-in program in the CLI space opened in February 2022.

Maker Lab Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains maker space tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
  • Skillfully uses CAD and design software for project design and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluates recommends and orders maker equipment and supplies for the CLI
  • Attends workshops conducts independent research and stays abreast of current maker trends in education be the trendsetter!

Other Responsibilities:

  • Vigorously engages in own professional development
  • Observes laws and the schools policies procedures and regulations which have application to and implications for the professionals responsibilities
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students faculty staff equipment materials and facilities since safety and security are everyones responsibility
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Experience teaching introductory level computer science including block-based languages JavaScript and Python
  • Experience with maker tools preferably 3D printer and laser cutter
  • Experience designing curriculum with knowledge of current trends in social innovation making/creating and problem-solving frameworks

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Capacity to learn a variety of maker tools including but not limited to laser cutter 3D printer sewing machine and vinyl cutter
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows environment using Microsoft 365
