Field and Laboratory Operations Technician

The Field and Laboratory Operations Technician will assist with bench-scale and pilot-scale testing treatment system setup water quality analysis troubleshooting sample collection documentation and other research and development activities related to water wastewater and water reuse projects.

• Conduct bench-scale and pilot-scale tests in both laboratory and field environments.
• Lead or support the assembly installation start-up and commissioning of bench-scale and pilot-scale treatment systems.
• Set up equipment tubing piping pumps tanks valves instrumentation and related system components.
• Troubleshoot pilot system issues such as flow inconsistencies pressure loss pump failures leaks instrumentation errors and control system malfunctions.
• Work with engineers scientists and technicians to optimize new and existing pilot systems to meet treatment objectives.
• Interpret P&IDs process flow diagrams and equipment specifications to support system setup and operation.
• Collect process and handle samples including water wastewater stormwater industrial wastewater soil sludge and biosolids.
• Perform onsite and in-house water quality testing for liquid and solid samples.
• Analyze physical chemical and microbiological parameters including pH temperature conductivity odor color turbidity inorganic and organic parameters and microbiological indicators.
• Maintain accurate records data sheets reports and project documentation.
• Support additional R&D laboratory and field activities as assigned.

• Bachelors or associate degree in civil engineering environmental engineering mechanical engineering chemical engineering or a related technical field preferred.
• Equivalent industry experience certifications or hands-on technical experience may also be considered.
• 3 5 years of commissioning start-up or field operations experience in environmental water construction oil & gas chemical power or related industries preferred.
• Familiarity with industrial piping systems water treatment equipment pumps valves hydraulics and instrumentation preferred.
• Basic understanding of laboratory equipment such as micropipettes analytical balances burettes pH meters dissolved oxygen meters spectrophotometers turbidimeters centrifuges and autoclaves.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data organization tools.
• Strong time management organizational and technical communication skills.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams engineers scientists technicians and personnel at all levels.

• T3 Water Treatment Plant Operator certification is highly desirable.
• Experience with pilot-scale water or wastewater treatment systems.
• Experience collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
• Experience working in R&D environmental consulting or technical field operations.
