Job Summary
What Mold Maintenance Technician contributes to Cardinal Health
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts mechanisms tools or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
- Interprets blueprints sketches and engineering specifications
- Determines sequence of operations number of cuts required and method of setup
- Uses a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work tooling feeds and speeds
- Measures marks and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material parts and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working technical leader keep up-to-date records and maintain databases coordinate preventative maintenance work orders and general repair and upkeep of molds in the plant. Responsible for assigned work orders and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of molds.
Shift Details
- 11:00 pm to 7:00 am - Monday through Friday
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair all injection molds.
- Ability to work on hydraulics systems electrical and electronic equipment.
- Interfaces with production supervisors to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance of molds.
- Disassemble clean repair and reassemble various injection molds.
- Make minor repairs to injection molds while in press.
- Block off discrepant cavities as necessary.
- Troubleshoot equipment for defective or worn components and install replacements as necessary; diagnose failure causes and make recommendations for corrective actions.
- Set up various production machines including hydraulic and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications utilizing small hand tools i.e. wrenches pliers screwdrivers drills and channel locks drill press grinders and associated tool room equipment.
- Monitor machinery and process goals during shift and adjust as necessary to ensure optimum performance of processes.
- Interpret engineering drawings schematic diagrams or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. Uses ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 sampling standard part drawings and specifications to determine inspection and testing required as well as acceptable quality levels.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunction and either repair equipment or arrange for technical support and assist with repairs.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as assigned by supervisor in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance schedule.
- Adhere to plant policies/procedures department EHS rules Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.

Qualifications
- One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist engineering technology) preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience
- 4-5 years medical device manufacturing related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience

Anticipated hourly range:$24.15 - $33.85 per hour (includes shift differential)
