Job Summary
SGI is seeking a Fact Witness Specialist to provide witness management support services at the United States Attorneys Office (USAO) Western District of Kentucky in Louisville Kentucky. The Fact Witness Specialist will support Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) by coordinating and assisting fact witnesses before during and after trial proceedings. Responsibilities include managing witness communications coordinating travel and court appearances and maintaining case-related documentation. The position supports daily litigation operations and ensures witnesses are prepared and available for court pre-trial conferences and grand jury proceedings.

Job Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for fact witnesses responding to inquiries regarding court appearances pre-trial conferences grand jury proceedings and reimbursement processes
- Initiate contact with witnesses to coordinate travel confirm appearance dates and times and identify any special circumstances or needs
- Coordinate with Assistant United States Attorneys regarding witness appearances and any special authorizations or requirements
- Arrange witness travel and lodging in accordance with Department of Justice and USAO policies
- Ensure witnesses receive all necessary travel documentation and appearance details prior to scheduled proceedings
- Meet witnesses upon arrival provide courtroom orientation and accompany them as needed
- Ensure witnesses have appropriate waiting areas and assist with required documentation and signatures
- Prepare and submit witness reimbursement documentation including vouchers and supporting materials
- Track and reconcile Government Travel Accounts and provide updates on reimbursement status
- Coordinate with courts U.S. Marshals Service investigative agencies and other stakeholders as needed
- Prepare correspondence and recurring documents in accordance with legal procedures and formatting requirements
- Maintain witness files databases and tracking systems for appearances hearings and trial schedules
- Perform general administrative and logistical support related to witness management
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of litigation activities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Undergraduate degree preferred
- At least one (1) year of legal experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain required background investigation (Public Trust Tier II)
