JOB TITLE:VIRTUAL/YALE ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN

JOB SUMMARY: This person will engage in the culture of the school site while providing support to the building principal and providing leadership through participation in professional learning communities faculty meetings instructional leadership student supervision and professional development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in maintaining behavior management throughout the school (e.g. safe schools; student discipline referrals and interventions classroom management support and student supervision).
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing multiple measures of student achievement for use by the principal and staff to inform decisions to improve student outcomes.
  • Assist in coordinating/supervising school activities and managing school calendar/scheduling including field trips assemblies safety drills etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide instructional leadership and instructional support to individual teachers and groups of teachers.
  • Effectively manage the resources for which he/she is responsible to include: personnel; finances; facilities; programs; and services.
  • Participate in site improvement through participation in PLC strategic planning and professional development.
  • Demonstrates initiative in promoting the attendance morale conduct health and safety of students and staff; assists the principal in fostering an environment that supports maximum student learning.
  • Facilitate and lead conversations between students building and District staff parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Assist the principal in recruitment selection and retention of certified and support staff.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times to include awareness of emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consistently apply District policies regulations and procedures in an equitable and ethical manner.
  • Provide leadership at the building level in the absence of the principal.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the principal.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters Degree required; Must have current and valid principals certification prior to start date
  • 3 years of classroom teacher experience minimum
  • Must be able to complete required training to allow for the evaluation of certified non-administrative staff
  • Evidence of commitment to regular and consistent professional growth and leadership development

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Will be required to regularly stand walk and sit for extended periods
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
  • May experience constant interruptions inflexible deadlines and changes to normal routines.
  • The ability to communicate with various groups of people is essential. This may include communication with parents teachers administrators support staff and outside agencies.
  • The ability to effectively balance time and effectiveness in an office environment a classroom environment and a collaborative leadership environment constitute a major portion of this job.
  • This position requires frequent night-time weekend and after hours responsibilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Benefits information based on most current information available

  • 210 day contract
    • Salary is based on the classroom teacher pay scale of 182 days and dependent on the degree level and teacher experience step of the person in this position
    • 28 additional days above the standard teacher contract are compensated at the corresponding daily rate
    • $3450 stipend
  • Position duration is one year (two semesters) with the option for the District to renew for a second year.
    • At the end of the first year if the person in this position has not been hired in a full-time administrative position nor has he/she been hired for a second year as an administrative intern by April 1st he/she will be reassigned to a classroom teacher position based on the needs of the district.
    • If the person in this intern position has not been hired in a full-time administrative position prior to the first week in April 1st of the second year in the position he/she will be reassigned to a classroom position based on the needs of the District.

STATUS: Exempt certified

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
