The role
As a Senior Legal Counsel youll provide pragmatic commercially-focused legal advice across Vectors diverse portfolio supporting the business to deliver critical infrastructure and shape a new energy future. This is a senior handson role where youll work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors managing a broad range of commercial construction regulatory digital and compliance matters with confidence and sound judgment.
Beyond daytoday legal delivery the role has a strong strategic dimension. Youll contribute to the development and execution of Vectors wider strategy by providing leadership on complex and highvalue matters influencing outcomes early and ensuring legal and risk considerations are integrated into key business decisions and projects.
What makes this role unique is the opportunity to step into a trusted highimpact position within New Zealands largest electricity distributor. Youll gain exposure to complex energy regulatory digital and infrastructurerelated legal work operate with a high degree of autonomy and be part of a highly-collaborative lowhierarchy legal team.
Please note this role is available on a fixed term basis for a period of 1 year.
Who are we looking for
- A qualified lawyer with a law degree and current practising certificate and around 10 years experience as a commercial lawyer gained in private practice and/or inhouse
- Strong generalist commercial capability with experience advising on complex matters across areas such as contracts construction procurement regulatory digital and privacy
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level providing legal leadership on significant projects and contributing to wider organisational strategy
- Confident working independently with sound judgment while collaborating effectively and knowing when to escalate or seek peer input
- Commercially-pragmatic solutionsfocused and aligned to a lowego businesspartner mindset that thrives in a fastmoving hightrust environment.
