Senior Manager, Operational Excellence Programs & Capabilities

Reporting to the Associate Director Operational Excellence (OpEx) Devens Biologics Operations the OpEx Senior Manager will be responsible for developing implementing managing and upskilling employees utilizing OpEx programs. These programs will support the identification of cost savings opportunities increased process efficiency and drive continuous improvement within the Devens Biologics Operations. This will be accomplished by promoting the use of Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving methodologies to achieve department goals & objectives.

• Provide leadership to Operational Excellence (OpEx) programs in the Devens Biologics Operations Site that will increase process efficiency reduce operating costs and improve general cycle times.
• Support the improvement of the ideation intake processes for cost savings opportunities (Value Capture) the Continuous Improvement Framework and the OpEx Road Map execution.
• Provide and maintain a framework for functional and department leaders to identify sponsor and coach continuous improvement activities across the site.
• Accelerate and strengthen the foundational OpEx Capabilities to the Devens Biologics Operations Site employees via the introduction execution and maintenance of Lean Six Sigma Yellow Green & Black Belt Projects and Certifications Programs
• Provide and coordinate forums for training & coaching of Project Management Change Management Agile / Scrum and Problem-Solving methodologies.
• Embed OpEx Foundational skills in The Way We Work by monitoring and assessing the utilization of OpEx foundational skills (e.g. 5S Gemba Walks Visual Management tools Process Maps Standard Work Kaizens events and problem solving) across the Devens Bio Operations.
• Perform structured assessments of the Tier and Obeya meetings (both physical and digital boards) at all levels of the site to identify improvement opportunities in alignment with site strategy.
• Collaborate with Devens Biologics PMO to manage the Continuous Improvement project portfolio to ensure appropriate cost/benefit analysis and assessment.
• Collaborate with Devens Biologics Operations departments and the Digital Plant (IT) team to develop enhance or deploy pertinent KPIs / metrics for Devens Biologics Operations to drive improved performance.
• Collaborate with OpEx practitioners at the Deven Biologics Site to participate as needed in site Kaizen events and other OpEx initiatives in the Biologics Operating Unit.
• Coordinate the communication of OpEx achievements and initiatives via multiple forums including Site Community of Practice OpEx posters sessions Devens newsletter Site Leadership Team certification reviews Town Halls etc.
• Provide specific tools and lean technique training as required by the business.
• Keep up to date on best practices and improvement opportunities in OpEx by networking within the Devens site campus GPS Biologics Operating Unit and Global GPS OpEx team.

Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:

• Bachelors degree in industrial chemical/biochemical engineering or a related discipline or equivalent highly desired.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification is required.
• Agile / Scrum Master certifications strongly preferred.
• PMI PMP certification is a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years GxP Biopharmaceutical experience with strong experience with production and/or manufacturing operations is preferred documented by a solid history of functional accomplishments and a proven track record.
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of cGMP compliance and regulatory agency requirements and procedures.
• Successful experience working with cross-functional teams from manufacturing quality site engineering MS&T Digital Plant (IT) finance PMO and Biologics Development.
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications- SharePoint Project PowerPoint Access Excel Word Publisher Visio PowerAutomate and Minitab/JMP.
• Possesses a deep understanding of the Six Sigma and Lean philosophies and can coach others how to apply Lean Six Sigma concepts and foundational tools (e.g. Process Mapping Visual management 5S Gemba etc.).

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job such as required skills where the job is performed the employees work schedule job-related knowledge and experience. Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
