We are a leading tertiary teaching hospital situated in the beautiful harbour city of Auckland.
As one of Australasias busiest acute surgical centres we operate 24 theatres across two campuses (Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Surgical Centre) plus we have the exciting new Manukau Health Park facility in development (Project Overview). With 10 ANZCA-accredited fellowship positions available annually our department offers exceptional opportunities for professional development as you transition to independent consultant (attending) practice.

Our roles are ideally suited for those in their final year of training (or ST6/7) early consultant career (FANZCA post-CCT) or equivalent. The fellow experience covers acute surgical theatre work managing independent elective lists and contributing to out-of1theatre clinical responsibilitiesproviding a well-rounded generalist anaesthetic foundation.

About the Department
We are a metropolitan tertiary referral centre for complex cases including acute spinal injury pelvic trauma mangled limb maxillofacial trauma and major plastic reconstructive surgeries. We are also home to the National Burns Centre delivering world-class burns care to patients from across New Zealand and the Pacific.
Our department supports a busy Obstetric Unit with over 7000 deliveries annually many of which involve high-risk cases. We are a large department that is proud of our collegial and supportive team culture and can offer additional learning opportunities in paediatric care advanced airway management including for bronchoscopy transthoracic echo POCUS and acute pain management.
