Job Summary
Nemours Childrens Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Radiology team in Orlando Florida.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30a-4p
This position is responsible for general activities in the assigned patient care unit and serves in an assistive role to the registered nurses and radiology technologists in providing care to patients through regular assignments or delegated tasks under the supervision of a nurse or technologist.
- Preparing patients for examinations and providing assistive care according to established procedures and instructions.
- Cleaning and setting up room for examination. Holding and assisting in positioning patients during procedures.
- Providing general support for clinical operation in the Radiology department.
- Stocks supplies in technical area and checks for expired supplies.
- Ensure a clean and safe patient care environment.
- Utilize the electronic medical record as required to document the patient care provided.
- Transport patients to other unit locations and escorts discharged patients to car.
- Serve as receptionist for unit by promptly answering telephones/call light console greeting patients/families/visitors updating and monitoring the child abduction system and managing other software systems.
- Participate in unit departmental and hospital education programs.
- Adhere to the Nemours Standards of Behavior.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and a) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the State of Florida OR b) successful completion of one full semester clinical rotations in an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of one year of patient care experience preferred.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire.
