About the Team
At the NYC Department of Buildings we are responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. We facilitate compliant development with integrity efficiency and professionalism. The IT Solutions Delivery units are responsible for the development and enhancement of the Departments applications website and Intranet.
Position Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Director DOB NOW: Licensing and Administrative Systems the intern will:
- Assist in the development testing and maintenance of applications using technologies such (C#)
- Write and modify SQL queries to support application functionality and reporting needs.
- Support database updates and help ensure data integrity and performance.
- Use development tools such as Visual Studio (or similar IDEs) for coding debugging and testing.
- Participate in code reviews and learn best practices for coding standards and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic application defects under supervision.
- Collaborate with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
- Document technical processes and application changes.
- Participate in team meetings and Agile development activities as applicable.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
