CBC/Radio-Canada is a public media company undergoing a transformation in 2026 by implementing an ambitious strategic plan that will enable it to modernize its operations and fulfil its mission for Canadians.

In this context the Productions team is committed to being a catalyst for the best production practices and playing a pivotal role in the initiatives to transform our production methods so that content divisions can take advantage of these optimizations and benefits adding value for Canadians.

Optimization and innovation depend on people who prioritize this mission. This new cross-functional position within the Productions team will focus on boosting collaboration

sharing information and being a catalyst for optimization and innovation. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovation strategies:

    • Deploy measures to accommodate and support innovation.

    • Identify and prioritize innovation and experimental projects with the Productions leadership team.

    • Develop road maps and action plans considering available resources possible constraints and established priorities.

    • Lead monitor and report on teams involved in projects and experiments.

  • Set up and support monitoring for technology and new production trends:

    • Develop methodologies and mechanisms.

    • Document share and propose experimental projects stemming from insights.

  • Analyze and optimize the departments production and administration processes:

    • Identify and propose optimization projects to the Executive Director and sub-units.

    • Lead initiatives to optimize operations with internal and/or external resources.

    • Document communicate and report on progress made on improvement projects.

  • Support the digital transition for Productions:

    • In co-operation with Senior Directors (Television News Postproduction and Radio) identify new trends practices and production methods.

    • Identify and propose transformation projects and initiatives in line with the organizations priorities.

  • Communicate collaborate and manage change:

    • Collaborate closely with all departments to ensure synergy and a unified approach to innovation.

    • Clearly communicate the objectives progress and impacts of innovation projects.

    • Deploy change management strategies when new approaches processes or technologies are adopted.

  • Demonstrate strategic leadership:

    • Lead and/or participate in task forces or innovation cells.

    • Lead or supervise project execution teams.

    • Champion a culture of innovation and the adoption of new technologies within Productions and at CBC/Radio-Canada.

    • Promote a culture of collaboration continuous improvement and process optimization throughout the organization.

What You Bring:

Qualifications:

  • University education in media and/or any combination of education and experience may be considered

  • At least ten (10) years experience in operations or the equivalent

  • Experience in project management and process optimization in large organizations would be a major asset

Skills:

  • Political acumen with a natural aptitude for navigating and supporting change fostering buy-in and minimizing pushback

  • Exceptional analytical skills to thoroughly examine operational processes and identify opportunities for improving processes and adopting new technologies

  • Strong influential leadership skills and ability to influence and gain strong buy-in from stakeholders

  • Proficiency in project management and organizational development principles and tools

  • Strong ability to organize and orchestrate work in a multi-project environment

  • Solid command of spoken and written French and English

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills

  • Strong results orientation

  • Strong credibility and a proven ability to build trust with colleagues and partners

  • Open mind and comfort taking calculated risks to drive innovation
