Job Summary

Job Title: CTE Teachers Aide Wage/Hour Status: Non-exampt

Reports to: Dean of CTE Pay Grade:4

Dept./School: Career & Tech Education Department Days: 187

Supervises: N/A

Primary Purpose: To perform assigned tasks and assist the teacher and students in carrying out the daily activities of the school.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Some experience working with secondary students preferred

Education/Certification:

  • Ability to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Preferred: Associates Degree or 48 semester hours or Academic Assessment

Special Knowledge & Skills:

  • Skills to manage student behavior
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with teachers parents and students as well as all other school personnel

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

To fulfill the responsibilities of this position the duties shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Assisting in the implementation of the CTE program under the direction of the Dean of CTE
  • Assist in duties as assigned by the Dean of CTE
  • Assist teachers in delivering appropriate instruction to all students (including meeting the educational requirements of students with specialized needs)
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and any teaching materials or supplies.
  • Assist in grading papers
  • Be familiar with all materials kept in the classroom and/or lab as well as those that are brought in at various times including keeping inventory of supplies
  • In collaboration with the assigned program personnel will develop a schedule to maintain any equipment grounds and facilities.
  • Supervising the classroom and/or lab when the teacher is out of the room
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Exercise firm but kind control of students behavior abiding by the teachers policies
  • Able to accept the teacher as authority in the classroom and/or lab realizing that the teacher exercises authority he/she also assumes and is accountable to other school authorities and parents for the instructional program of the classroom
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
  • Maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the CTE program
  • Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with administrators teachers students and parents
  • Maintaining confidentiality about children their families and other employees outside of the school
  • Subject to split teacher assignment as needed
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary by the Dean of CTE

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/culling twisting

Motions: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Frequent driving

Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (50 pounds or less)

Environment: Work inside and work outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather); occasional exposure to noise; frequent district wide and statewide travel

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
