Job Summary

Machinist I II and III PURPOSE OF JOB

Fabricate repair and modify components tooling fixtures and equipment in support of manufacturing engineering and research and development operations. Operate precision machining measuring and inspection equipment in a safe efficient and compliant manner. Lead Machinists additionally provide technical leadership work prioritization training and coordination within the Tool Room.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment including lathes mills grinders and related tool room equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints sketches and GD&T to manufacture production and prototype components.
  • Fabricate repair and modify components tooling fixtures and prototype parts to specification.
  • Use precision inspection tools to verify dimensional accuracy and conformance.
  • Apply shop mathematics tolerances material properties and machining methods.
  • Support manufacturing engineering and R&D through timely completion of work orders.
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe tool room environment.
  • Comply with all safety quality and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES LEVEL II III (LEAD)
  • Prioritize and schedule Tool Room work orders to meet manufacturing and engineering needs.
  • Provide technical leadership coaching and on-the-job training to machinists.
  • Set up operate and validate complex prototype and CNC machining processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on prototype development process improvements tooling and equipment introduction.
  • Track work order progress and communicate status and risks to management.
  • Monitor tooling condition coordinate refurbishment and manage tooling inventories.
  • Support special manufacturing engineering R&D and facilities projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational machining training preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience operating manual and CNC equipment including lathes and mills; CNC programming exposure (G-code and/or CAM systems) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints GD&T and specifications to produce prototype and production components.
  • Experience fabricating prototype one-off and low-volume precision components tooling and fixtures.
  • Working knowledge of precision inspection methods and measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of shop math tolerances materials machining processes and tooling selection.
  • Familiarity with ISO-regulated and FDA-regulated manufacturing environments and documentation practices preferred.
  • Machinist I/II/III progression aligned with demonstrated skill level experience and complexity of work performed.
  • Experience Machinist: Typically 3 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or tool room environment.
  • Experience Lead Machinist: Typically 7 10 years of machining experience with demonstrated leadership mentoring and work coordination responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment consists of both office areas and manufacturing environments that house various types of machinery and equipment. Position requires the ability to stand for extended periods lift up to 50 pounds perform repetitive hand motions and safely operate machinery. Must be able to bend stoop reach push pull and work in typical manufacturing conditions including noise dust heat and cold.
