A prestigious independent school in Reading is seeking an exceptional Head of Science to lead its successful department from April.
This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for an ambitious Science specialist who is passionate about academic excellence curriculum development and inspiring students to develop a strong understanding of the sciences.
About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the Science department and overseeing the delivery of Biology Chemistry and Physics across KS3 & KS4 with the potential for KS5 teaching depending on specialism.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and developing the Science department
Driving high standards of teaching learning and assessment
Monitoring student progress and supporting strong academic outcomes
Supporting and mentoring teaching staff within the department
Overseeing curriculum planning and departmental development
Ensuring students are effectively prepared for GCSE examinations
You will also maintain a teaching timetable and model high-quality classroom practice.

The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher with QTS (or equivalent)
Strong subject knowledge across Science
Ability to teach Science across KS3 & KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a departmental leadership role
Commitment to academic excellence and high standards
