Job Summary

Wirral WRAP School is an independent specialist day provision operating over 39 weeks of the year for boys and girls aged 716 with social emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Based in Beechwood Wirral we are an aspirational innovative and supportive school committed to the development of both our students and staff.
We pride ourselves on fostering a positive and collaborative working environment where staff support one another both in and out of the classroom. About the Role
Role of Deputy Head Teacher
The Deputy Head Teacher will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards values and ethos of WRAP. You will support the Directors and Head Teacher in evaluating provision maintaining quality standards and ensuring a safe structured and supportive environment for all students.
This role requires a proactive and highly organised individual who can lead on attendance behaviour safeguarding systems and stakeholder engagement while modelling best practice across the provision.

Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding Data & Compliance
Daily updating management and analysis of CPOMS records
Produce CPOMS reports and maintain accurate safeguarding documentation
Maintain suspension logs and oversee incident reporting including monitoring and reviewing
behaviour logs
Attend and contribute to safeguarding meetings including CIN CP TAF Core Group and Strategy
meetings
Provide detailed written reports for safeguarding and welfare meetings
Support the administration of child protection processes in line with statutory guidance
Follow all safeguarding procedures in line with school policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) and proposed revisions (2026) as they become available.

Safeguarding & Health and Safety
Maintain a safe and secure learning environment at all times
Follow all safeguarding procedures in line with school policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) and proposed revisions (2026) as they become available.
Understand and implement health and safety responsibilities in accordance with WRAP policies

Attendance & Behaviour
Monitor analyse and report on attendance patterns
Produce and maintain attendance data analysis
Develop and implement attendance management plans
Conduct attendance meetings with families carers and stakeholders
Submit attendance data to the Local Authority
Organise and plan attendance reward trips and incentives
Monitor behaviour systems and intervene where necessary to improve outcomes

Student Support & Pastoral Care
Support teaching staff in managing pastoral behavioural and academic issues
Work directly with students to build confidence resilience and self-esteem
Signpost students to appropriate internal and external support services
Support the induction of new students ensuring smooth transitions
Attend welfare and review meetings (including CP reviews every 36 months)

Curriculum & Quality of Education
Support the development and oversight of the curriculum and Schemes of Work
Ensure teacher planning is in place and meets expected standards
Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the quality of education

Staff Leadership & Site Management
Lead manage and deploy behaviour support staff effectively on a daily basis
Oversee staff duties and manage the daily duty rota
Support the management of teaching staff ensuring adherence to planning and learning
expectations
Take responsibility for teaching spaces ensuring they are safe well maintained and fit for purpose
Report maintenance issues to the Directors

Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise effectively with parents carers schools and external agencies
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with partner schools
Attend weekly SLT meetings and half-termly Local Authority meetings
Represent WRAP at stakeholder meetings and multi-agency forums
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including in complex or sensitive situations

Monitoring Reporting & Administration
Oversee and manage incident reports and data systems (including SANSA)
Manage and maintain the SEN register
Analyse outcomes from attendance and safeguarding meetings
Provide regular reports to the Directors and Head of Centre
Ensure all records relating to attendance behaviour safeguarding and progress are accurate and up to date

Additional Duties
Attend weekly Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings
Undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Directors or Head Teacher

Working with Directors and Leadership
Maintain a strong understanding of WRAP policies procedures and expectations
Support the leadership team in maintaining high standards across all areas of provision
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex situations
Contribute to continuous improvement and identify CPD opportunities
Demonstrate resilience professionalism and excellent communication skills when working with a range of stakeholders

Personal Qualities
We are seeking a committed and motivated individual who:
A proven track record in managing supporting and re-engaging young learners with behavioural issues.
Has strong organisational and administrative skills
Can analyse data and use it to inform decision-making
Has experience working with young people particularly those with SEMH needs
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Is confident working with external agencies and multi-agency teams
Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Essential Criteria
A recognised degree in Education or a relevant subject
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with children or young people with SEND
Strong understanding of SEN practices and inclusive teaching strategies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for education and improving outcomes for young people
