IT Systems Manager

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Director of IT the IT Systems Manager is a strategic and hands-on infrastructure leader responsible for overseeing enterprise IT operations across data center environments physical and virtual servers networks (LAN/WAN) storage security telecommunications and shared services.

This role is both strategic and operational - a true player-coach position. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert who can lead a high-performing infrastructure team while actively participating in architecture design troubleshooting security initiatives and long-term technology planning.

You will ensure that the Companys infrastructure remains secure scalable high-performing and aligned with business objectives while fostering strong employee engagement and delivering exceptional internal customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure & Technical Leadership

  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure including servers storage virtualization security telecommunications and networking.
  • Maintain 24x7 reliability across workstation server network telephony and application environments.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning testing and business continuity initiatives.
  • Manage system performance backups cybersecurity and intrusion monitoring.
  • Spearhead security and compliance initiatives including annual SOC PCI and HIPAA certifications.
  • Oversee patch management upgrades and configuration standards.
  • Participate in security incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Manage procurement asset tracking and infrastructure lifecycle planning.
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Strategic Planning & Project Management

  • Partner with the Director of IT and business stakeholders to align infrastructure with business objectives.
  • Lead feasibility analysis cost planning and resource allocation for IT initiatives.
  • Support integration of AI-driven tools and emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies covering architecture security disaster recovery and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to ensure scalable high-availability architecture.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including surveillance and systems expansion initiatives.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead a team of 2 direct and 3 indirect reports.
  • Provide coaching performance management and professional development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish measurable standards.
  • Manage scheduling timekeeping approvals and workload prioritization.
  • Partner with HR on employee relations matters.
  • Update and track quarterly department OKRs.
  • Promote engagement strategies to retain and motivate high-performing employees.
  • Champion process improvements using Six Sigma methodology.

Service Desk & Customer Engagement

  • Act as escalation point for all IT infrastructure issues.
  • Manage service desk workload and SLA performance.
  • Ensure all user requests are logged tracked and resolved efficiently.
  • Maintain strong internal partnerships across operations sales transportation and accounting teams.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure complete satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Required

  • BA/BS in IT Computer Science Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing enterprise Windows server environments supporting 500 users.
  • Prior leadership experience managing IT service desk operations.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Active Directory Group Policy PowerShell
    • Microsoft 365
    • Virtualization and cloud platforms
    • SSO MDM Apple/iOS environments
    • SQL Server IIS WSUS
    • Networking (LAN/WAN infrastructure)
    • ERP/CRM systems (including Dynamics GP)
  • Experience managing or implementing AI/ML technologies.
  • Strong background in security antivirus spam protection and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Valid California drivers license.

Preferred

  • Service industry experience
  • Experience with process improvement teams
  • IT certifications such as MCSE AWS CCNA Server
