Job Position: Regional Manager (FMCG Sales and Operations)

Ref: 5192

Location: Cape Town

Salary: R40000 to R50000 per month commensurate with qualification and experience fuel card for business use

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the FMCG industry with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Proven track record in regional or area sales management within an FMCG environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing a P&L and delivering against revenue and margin targets
  • Experience managing multi-channel customer accounts (retail wholesale informal trade)
  • Exposure to trade negotiations and key account management at a regional level
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Commerce Marketing or a related field (preferred) will be advantageous
  • A relevant Postgraduate Qualification will be advantageous

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong commercial acumen with solid understanding of FMCG P&L drivers
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in sales reporting tools and MS Excel/Office Suite
  • Exceptional negotiation communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Highly organised self-driven and capable of operating with minimal oversight
  • Valid South African drivers licence and willingness to travel extensively within the region

Key Performance Areas:

Sales Leadership and Revenue Growth:

  • Develop and execute the regional sales strategy in alignment with national commercial objectives
  • Drive consistent achievement of volume revenue and market share targets across the Western Cape
  • Identify and capitalise on growth opportunities within existing and new customer accounts
  • Lead coach and performance-manage a team of Sales Representatives and Key Account Managers
  • Set clear KPIs conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective action where required

Customer and Account Management:

  • Maintain and grow strategic relationships with key retail wholesale and distribution partners
  • Negotiate trading terms promotional agreements and listings with Regional Buyers and customers
  • Ensure superior customer service standards and resolve escalated account issues promptly
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends feeding insights back to the commercial team

P&L Oversight & Financial Management:

  • Take full ownership of the regional P&L including revenue trade spend and cost of sales
  • Monitor margin performance and proactively identify and address sources of margin leakage
  • Manage regional trade investment and promotional spend within approved budgets
  • Prepare and present monthly regional performance reports to senior leadership
  • Forecast accurately and manage stock returns and wastage to optimise profitability

Operations and Execution:

  • Oversee day-to-day regional operations ensuring efficient route-to-market execution
  • Ensure on-shelf availability correct pricing and compliance with planograms across key outlets
  • Coordinate with supply chain logistics and distribution teams to maintain service levels
  • Implement and monitor promotional and merchandising activities across the region

People and Team Development:

  • Recruit onboard and develop regional team members in line with company culture and values
  • Foster a results-driven collaborative and accountable team environment
  • Identify training needs and champion continuous development across the regional team
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies labour legislation and company code of conduct
