A mining operation is seeking a Drilling & Blasting Manager to oversee all drilling and blasting activities within an open pit environment. The role focuses on ensuring safe efficient and cost-effective blasting practices aligned to production requirements. The incumbent will manage contractors optimize blast performance and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal is a senior site-based role requiring strong technical capability and leadership within a hard rock mining operation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee drilling and blasting operations to achieve production and fragmentation targets
- Manage drilling and blasting contractors and ensure contract compliance
- Design and optimize blast patterns timing and explosive usage
- Ensure compliance with safety environmental and legal requirements
- Monitor blast performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage drilling and blasting budgets and associated costs
- Coordinate with mining geology and plant teams for production alignment
- Compile blasting performance and operational reports
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field
- Surface Blasting Ticket (required)
- 8–10 years’ experience in open pit mining with strong drilling and blasting exposure
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity
- Proven experience managing contractors in mining operations
- Strong safety awareness and operational planning capability
