Job Title:Reading Tutor (Temporary Part-Time)
Position Duration:April 6 2026 May 7 2026 (5 weeks)
Schedule:Up to 3 days per week approximately 3 hours per day (total of 45 hours)
Position Overview
Oxford Preparatory School seeks enthusiastic and experienced Reading Tutors to provide targeted small-group instruction for students in grades 38 in preparation for End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments. This short-term position will aim to strengthen reading comprehension fluency and test-readiness skills through structured data-informed instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide small-group reading interventions and targeted skill-building sessions aligned to North Carolina ELA standards.
- Reinforce reading comprehension strategies vocabulary development and test-taking techniques.
- Maintain consistent communication with grade-level teachers and instructional leaders regarding student progress and engagement.
- Track student attendance and participation submitting brief session reports as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in Education or related field required.
- North Carolina teacher certification (active or retired) preferred.
- Proven success in facilitating reading growth and student achievement.
- Strong understanding of developmental reading practices and differentiated instruction.
- Effective classroom management and skill in fostering positive student relationships.
- Enthusiasm for working with diverse learners in a collaborative team setting.
Compensation and Employment Terms
Temporary part-time role.
$30/hour for instructional time (approximately 45 hours per tutor).
Tutors may be assigned to specific grade levels or groups based on student data and scheduling needs.
