PRN Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse Home Medical Equipment
Overview Seeking a flexible Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide per-diem support in the Mount Vernon Illinois area. This unique opportunity allows you to create your own schedule while supporting critical patient care needs.
Work Environment This per-diem role involves flexible scheduling with opportunities to support patient equipment setups primarily for respiratory equipment needs. Youll work independently responding to patient requirements with clinical expertise and compassion typically working one day per week or every other week based on your availability.
Key Responsibilities -
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments
- Provide equipment education and setup
- Monitor respiratory equipment function
- Perform ventilator and respiratory equipment setups
- Communicate patient findings to physicians
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Support patient compliance and therapy understanding
- Educate patients and families on equipment use
Qualifications Required:

- Active RRT CRT or RN licensure in Illinois
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Ability to work independently
Preferred:

- Completion of accredited respiratory care program
- Home respiratory care experience
- Degree in respiratory therapy or related science
- One year of related work experience
- CRT or RT credentials
Physical Demands -
- Lift and carry office equipment at times
- Requires close vision to small print on computer and/or tablet and paperwork
- Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens
- Requires occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment
- Requires sitting walking standing talking and listening
- Required to comply with Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy:
- Medical evaluation and fit testing compliance in a timely manner
- Annual recertification
- Keep face clean-shaven to ensure N95 mask face-seal protection per OSHA guidelines
