Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor Clinical Laboratory Technologist I Hematology & Urinalysis. The successful candidate will:

• Adhere to departmental hospital and government regulations.
• Be in charge of and responsible for the operation of the laboratory.
• Be accountable for day-to-day laboratory operations review quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Oversee and conduct timely performance of specimen testing.
• Oversee and conduct recording and archiving test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory statistics.
• Be responsible for shifting staff around or assign staff additional duties to maintain workflow smoothly.
• Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related duties and responsibilities as business needs warrant and/or as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology Physical or Biological Sciences.
• New York State Medical Laboratory Technologist License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of supervisory experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories preferred.
• ASCP Certification.
