About the role:


Reporting into the APAC Communications Director the Head of Communications for Dyson Japan will lead on planning executing and evaluating a wide range of external and internal communications activities. They will work closely with internal department heads the leadership Team and external PR influencer and events addition to having a strategic focus the role requires hands-on execution leveraging a broad network of contacts
to deliver quality outputs.

Our high-profile reputation helps grow our business by indirectly selling our technology and positions Dyson as a great place to work. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate communications leader to develop and execute integrated communications plans that position Dyson as the leader in engineering innovation technology and education leveraging on Dyson narratives.


Working closely with senior stakeholders the individual will deploy our stories strategically through press influencers KOLs social media events and internal communications to build and protect our reputation acting swiftly in the event of potential issues or crisis situations.
The successful candidate will have an excellent ability to build and affect cultural change and mindset - at both a people and process level to demonstrate skill and comfort in building relationships with senior leadership team members and in-market people to influence and engage people up down and across the organisation in order to bring about change. The role requires demonstrated experience in managing comprehensive communications programs to advance an organisations mission and goals. This will be an active and challenging role that requires a forward thinking and proactive ability.

For this role Dyson Japan is seeking a resourceful and natural storyteller who is an out the box thinker digitally savvy and with a data-driven mindset who can drive transformation for Dyson Japan. The ideal candidate has a proven experience in the technology industry and expertise across traditional as well as social media showing passion for engaging with press
influencers and KOLs. They will be a highly motivated person who embraces change and is ready to pivot at pace. The willingness to experiment and invite feedback are crucial components for success in this role.


Main Accountabilities:

Strategic Communication

  • Set progressive yet strategic communications plan thinking out of box against convention.

  • Transformcommunications approach toDyson beauty and audio in Japanbased onadeep understanding of traditionalsocial media and influencer landscapes.

  • Understand businessobjectives align communicationsobjectivesanddemonstratevalueof communicationsoutputs tomaximiseimpactand ROI.

  • Knowledge and continuous monitoring of main competitors

  • Generation and localisation of communications materials (press releases reactive statement media brief speeches briefs Q&A statement etc)

  • Event planning skills: organize digital/physical events to ensure the Dyson narrative lands successfully internally and externally Identify the right product placement opportunities following up on content creation and maximizingvisibility

  • Keep abreast of emerging trendstechnologiesandinfluencers

  • Accountabilityaccuracyand efficiency with communications budget management

  • Accurate data management and reporting of communicationsresults

Leadership

  • Drive a comprehensive program to advance Dysons mission and goals across product corporate and internal communications for Japan launching products sustaining products thought leadership and SEA Commercial teamengagement

  • Be anactive andengagedmember oftheJapanLeadershipTeamto drivehigh performanceculture andmeaningful changeacrossthebusiness

  • As part of the APAC Communications Leads group build strong working relationships with other local departmentsGroupand other markets Communications teams across APAC and beyond team sharing priorities strategiesassetsand best practices/learnings

Communication skills

  • Devise and implement excellent internal and external communications strategies focused on telling stories around our core technology our machines our corporate stories our people and places and the Dyson philosophy.

  • Show in depth knowledge and experience of theJapanmedia landscape for both traditional and social media: Drive the continuation and development of new formats and platforms in interaction with internal and external stakeholders.Be itonline on social media channels as well as in traditional media.

  • Identifyemerging issues trendsand opportunities facing the organization and design strategies to manage theirimpactincluding crisis management.

  • Resource management engaging topresource to fuelDyson Japan Communicationswith best-in-class ideas andimplementation

About You:

Experienceandcompetencies

  • Minimum15 years experience in communications field with proventrack recorddeliveringhigh impactresultsunder fast changing environment via new ways of PR.

  • Proventrack recordof leadingculture building

  • Ability to build and effect change - at botha peopleand process level.

  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in building relationships with top tier editorsinfluencers andKOLs

  • Ability tocome up withnew ideasand inventive ways to promoteDyson

  • Thrives in a fast-paced and deadline-orientedenvironment

  • Evidence of experience in managing a comprehensive communications program to advance an organizations mission andgoals

  • Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage people up down and across the organization to bring about change.Excellent time management and prioritization skills for the individual and their team

  • An understanding and passion for Dyson technology design and engineering and a sense of what makesDysonand its people tick.

  • Excellent storytelling ability brilliant interpersonalskillsand robust commercial understanding.

  • Ability to inspiremanageand developteammembersgeneratingahigh performanceculturewhileproviding mentorship and coaching

  • Unafraid to challengebe challenged and ask/answerdifficult questions.Ability to receive feedback positively and act uponit

  • Fluent in English native in Japanese
