Their Welfare Officer plays a critical role in supporting emotional wellbeing medical needs attendance intervention and early help processes.

About the Role:
The school is looking for a caring proactive and dedicated Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing safeguard vulnerable pupils and contribute to the wider pastoral team. You will work closely with pastoral leads attendance officers SEN staff and safeguarding teams ensuring that students receive timely effective and compassionate support.

The role requires someone who is patient empathetic and confident working with young people facing challenges such as anxiety behavioural issues confidence issues home concerns or medical needs. You will be a daily point of contact for students and parents providing calm structured and sensitive guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional and wellbeing support to students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
Maintain accurate welfare records care plans and confidential documentation.
Support safeguarding processes reporting concerns in line with school policy.
Work with external agencies including social care health professionals and early help teams.
Assist students with medical conditions medication storage and first-aid needs (training provided).
Monitor attendance concerns escalate issues and support early intervention meetings.
Build strong relationships with students and families to encourage positive engagement.
Support reintegration plans after absence exclusion or emotional difficulties.
Manage daily drop-ins where students seek support with wellbeing concerns.
Promote positive mental health through workshops interventions and targeted programmes.
Contribute to whole-school wellbeing initiatives and awareness events.
Work collaboratively with pastoral leaders to ensure consistency and high standards.

Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral care or safeguarding capacity.
Strong communication empathy and listening skills.
Confidence working with sensitive information and challenging situations.
Good organisation and resilience.
Understanding of safeguarding wellbeing and mental health support.
