Were hiring a Market Research Analyst to help OpenAI anticipate market shifts surface actionable insights and inform strategy across products launches and go-to-market efforts. This role blends proactive market sensing with structured research translating external signals into clear decision-oriented recommendations for cross-functional teams.
What Youll Do
Market Monitoring & Insight Generation
Build and maintain a structured view of key market signals across customers developers competitors and platforms.
Identify emerging trends early and translate them into implications for OpenAIs priorities positioning and product roadmap.
Develop repeatable approaches to market sensing that surface meaningful changes before they become obvious.
Competitive & Category Research
Track competitor activity including product launches pricing and packaging partnerships developer programs and ecosystem strategy.
Maintain market maps across segments key players routes to market and evolving customer preferences.
Produce concise decision-oriented briefs and readouts for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Market intelligence is structured repeatable and consistently surfaces meaningful signals early.
You become a trusted source of ecosystem insightaccurate current and easy to act on.
Your research outputs are crisp actionable and drive clear follow-up decisions.
You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have
4 years of experience in market research or a related field (technology experience preferred).
Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and building lightweight systems to create ongoing visibility.
Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and succinctly to cross-functional stakeholders.
Familiarity with developer ecosystems AI/ML markets or platform products.
Tools & Working Style
Experience building dashboards or lightweight analytics views (e.g. Google Sheets BI tools; basic scripting is a plus).
Comfortable working across Product Go-to-Market Marketing Communications and Strategy teams in fast-paced environments.
Strong judgment and prioritization skills with a bias toward clarity and action.
