GENERAL SUMMARY


The Enterprise Applications Administrator is responsible for the maintenance optimization and strategic support of the University of Sioux Falls Jenzabar Student Information System and other enterprise applications and databases. This role requires technical expertise strong project management skills cross-functional collaboration and the ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through successful implementation.

The position works closely with IT colleagues faculty staff and external vendors to ensure data integrity system reliability security and continuous improvement aligned with institutional priorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in relational database management advanced SQL Microsoft Office applications and the ability to manage competing priorities while working effectively with individuals from diverse functional and technical backgrounds. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer or their designee.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

  • Configuration of the Jenzabar One information system features and settings for each system component.
  • Manage user access to databases and applications assigning permissions based on defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and oversee ongoing training programs for new and experienced users of administrative systems.
  • Maintain regular communication with administrative and academic departments to ensure optimal support for institutional operations and data integrity including report development ad hoc queries process oversight and serving as a campus-wide resource.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for database and application-related projects working with stakeholders to define scope timelines deliverables and communication plans.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop methodologies and recommendations that proactively enhance data collection reporting and usability for end users across the University.
  • Gather and analyze data from multiple databases using statistical techniques and applications; create ad hoc and recurring reports to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Evaluate systems and workflows across technologies to improve efficiency automation and integration.
  • Conduct needs assessments for proposed projects; evaluate solutions and vendors; and facilitate informed decision-making in coordination with the VP/CIO and institutional stakeholders.
  • Serve as project lead or liaison for application upgrades system migrations integrations and new technology implementations.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with external vendors to ensure appropriate system performance security backups and compliance with institutional federal and insurance requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to database and application performance security and data integrity.
  • Ensure the integrity and consistency of data across all institutional databases and applications.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in information systems or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a database administrator or in a closely related role.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server open-source tools and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience managing technology projects including planning prioritization coordination of resources and successful execution.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to design practical and creative solutions in environments with limited standardization.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; and design workflows procedures and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively with faculty staff students and vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting project deadlines.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; successful completion of required background check; valid drivers license; and ability to sit or stand for extended periods in a typical office environment.
