DescriptionUnder the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the PT Facilities Support Technician (FST) will support the campus through the collecting loading and transporting of waste and recycling materials from external collection locations across campus. The PT FST will prioritize safety and communication in their work and have a working knowledge of all safety regulations. Possess a proven ability to read interpret and work from diagrams and other documents. The PT FST will support University events set-ups manage office furniture perform general maintenance duties as well as perform commercial painting and refinishing of structures furnishings and surfaces when needed. This is a part-time position working approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for collecting loading and transporting waste and recycling materials to include office furniture laboratory equipment.
- Lifts and moves equipment that may weigh over 100 pounds
- Ensures the proper safeguarding of tools and moving equipment. Assists in facility and vehicle management maintenance.
- May operate trucks and university vehicles.
- Communicate with the supervisor to ensure work orders are processed on time and labor is completed.
- Supports the needs of the department by being a team player and having flexibility with work orders and schedule adjustments.
- Assure that deficiencies are reported via the CMMS system. Communicate with management any hazards or risks that require immediate attention.
- Takes necessary precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable regulations when working with hazardous chemicals/waste.
- May paint hang and finish drywall. Preps surfaces before beginning a project.
- Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsA high school diploma or equivalent is required. The position also requires a valid Georgia drivers license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Experience in a University setting is preferred.
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must possess strong skills in organization communication and great customer service.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The majority of the tasks associated with this position will be performed outdoors at multiple campus locations or buildings. Some duties will require the ability to function with exposure to seasonal weather conditions. May have exposure to potential hazards. Ability to stand bend stoop kneel reach lift pull push and walk for a minimum of four hours. Also must possess the ability to lift at least 100 lbs. using safe lifting techniques.
