Purpose of the Role:

To lead and deliver highquality mechanical engineering solutions within the mining and mineral processing domain by providing strong technical leadership guiding multidisciplinary teams and ensuring projects are executed safely efficiently and in line with customer business and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance within mining mineral processing and related mechanical engineering domains supporting teams in delivering highquality engineering outcomes.

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to define project requirements develop delivery plans and establish realistic schedules that support team success.

  • Proactively identify technical and project risks working with the team to develop and implement effective mitigation and contingency plans.

  • Communicate scope expectations and priorities clearly fostering an environment where questions ideas and constructive challenge are encouraged.

  • Support the successful delivery of projects through effective schedule management reporting change management practices and alignment to agreed KPIs.

  • Lead and participate in design and project reviews providing constructive feedback and practical solutions that promote learning and continuous improvement.

  • Perform and review complex engineering calculations ensuring technical integrity and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Guide and support engineers in executing complex engineering projects enabling them to deliver safely efficiently and with confidence.

  • Allocate work in a transparent and balanced manner supporting individuals and teams in achieving short and longterm objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with team members management and customers to ensure project outcomes meet agreed technical quality and safety requirements.

  • Lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders representing the engineering function with clarity and professionalism.

  • Partner with technical managers to drive standardization initiatives and improve engineering efficiency and consistency across projects.

  • Coach and mentor engineers supporting skill development knowledge sharing and career growth.

  • Establish maintain and continuously improve SOPs manuals workflows and engineering processes.

  • Stay informed of industry trends technologies and best practices and support their thoughtful application within projects.

  • Support teams in troubleshooting technical issues and identifying optimal practical solutions.

  • Prepare and present clear project updates reports and technical information for relevant stakeholders.

  • Review and interpret FEA results for equipment and systems collaborating with the team to recommend and implement appropriate design improvements.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience contributing to the design and development of medium to complex mechanical equipment and systems within industrial or heavy engineering environments.

  • Handson exposure to heavy machinery and bulk material handling systems with the ability to apply sound engineering judgment to practical design challenges.

  • Strong understanding of mining mineral processing or related process equipment with the ability to work across multiple products and integrated systems.

  • Experience working with multiple equipment types and system interfaces supporting effective integration and overall system performance.

  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX/UGNX) and PLM systems (preferably Teamcenter) or equivalent engineering design platforms.

  • Exposure to scan processing and inspection reporting for rotating and static equipment such as pumps hydrocyclones mill liners or comparable engineered products.

  • Experience in the design of fabricated components such as hoppers bins chutes baseframes and similar structures used in mineral processing or bulk handling applications.

  • Familiarity with scan processing tools (e.g. Geomagic Trimble RealWorks or similar) is an advantage.

  • Strong technical diagnostic and problemsolving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions.

  • Good understanding of regional safety codes engineering standards and compliance requirements relevant to mechanical equipment and systems.

  • Experience applying risk assessment principles to mechanical designs equipment and engineered systems.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise and project environments including tools such as SAP Salesforce and project or program management systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills with the ability to influence collaborate and support teams toward shared objectives.

  • Ability and willingness to build professional inclusive working relationships with colleagues customers and stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to share technical information clearly and motivate others.

  • Exposure to project management tools and methodologies is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (or equivalent) to support documentation reporting and communication.
