Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Business Office Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Business Office Manager assists the Facility Administrator and Clinical Director in running the Center in an efficient cost-effective and patient-centered manner. The BOM must have the ability to lead and motivate the business office staff and is responsible for supervising non-clinical personnel. The BOM must be able to communicate effectively with upper management center staff physicians and their staff patients their families marketing insurance and sales representatives. Also have the ability to promote favorable center image with physicians patients insurance companies and the general public. Knowledge of medical terminology: medical billing and coding. Knowledge of Workers Compensation Commercial payors and Medicare regulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Bachelors degree in business accounting finance or a related field
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations preferably in an ASC or Healthcare setting
  • Prior leadership or management experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Business Office policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of revenue cycle operations including billing accounts receivable denials management and payer regulations.
  • Experience collaborating with Workers Compensation Programs
  • Demonstrated experience using computerized patient accounting and billing systems.
  • Knowledge of computer systems programs and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and performance metrics to drive improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records billing systems and standard and Windows based software.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor performance and evaluate service outcomes.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal busy office environment with increased telephone work. Occasional evening or weekend work.
