Primary Purpose:

To strengthen instructional practices across the district that improve outcomes for students with disabilities in both inclusive and self-contained settings. This role provides coaching and mentoring to special education and general education staff ensuring the implementation of evidence-based instructional behavioral and compliance strategies. Foster teacher capacity support professional learning and promote instructional consistency aligned to district goals special education laws and best practices.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Masters degree in education special education or related field (preferred)
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsement(s)

Experience

  • Three (3) years of successful special education teaching experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of specially designed instruction and differentiation strategies
  • Knowledge of IDEA IEP development and instructional compliance standards
  • Skilled in behavior supports inclusive practices and classroom management systems
  • Ability to facilitate adult learning and deliver targeted professional development
  • Expertise in instructional coaching models and peer collaboration frameworks
  • Skilled in using student data to guide instructional planning and monitor progress and instructional impact

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Coaching and Teacher Support

  • Partner with special education teachers general education teachers and paraprofessionals to strengthen instructional practices through modeling co-teaching observation and feedback cycles.
  • Provide job-embedded coaching with a focus on measurable instructional goals.
  • Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with educators across multiple campuses.
  • Support implementation of district initiatives such as High-Leverage Practices (HLPs) Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and MTSS.

Behavioral Support and Classroom Strategies

  • Coach teachers on evidence-based behavior strategies and classroom management plans.
  • Support the implementation of proactive and responsive behavioral interventions.
  • Model and reinforce instructional environments that promote independence engagement and self-regulation.

Collaboration and Professional Learning

  • Design and deliver professional learning on topics such as specially designed instruction IEP implementation data-driven instruction and compliance.
  • Collaborate with instructional leaders related service providers and special education leadership to align coaching efforts with district goals.
  • Contribute to department initiatives coaching cycles and instructional walkthroughs.

Data Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Support fidelity of IEP implementation accommodations and modifications across settings.
  • Guide teams in using progress monitoring tools and data to adjust instruction.
  • Maintain documentation of coaching cycles teacher support plans and student impact.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all district policies procedures and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in professional development faculty/department meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the department and campus.

Tools and Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
