Director of Human Resources & Compliance
The Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is an arts focused independent community school on the east side of Columbus that serves a diverse population of students in grades 7 through 12 from over 25 different districts in central Ohio. ACPA just completed its twentieth year of operation and has consistently been one of the highest performing charter schools in Ohio.
ACPA is seeking qualified candidates for a Director of Human Resources & Compliance position. This Director position that is crucial to daily operations. Candidates should be capable of multi-tasking in a high paced busy environment. Candidates should have a friendly demeanor be detailed oriented and able to serve student parent and staff needs.
TheHuman Resources & Compliance will be expected to reflect the ACPA mission and vision and the school values of kindness respect for diversity honesty problem solving communication participation and awareness in all interactions with school stakeholders including students staff parents and community partners and other constituents.
Contract: 12 Month
Pay: $65000
Benefits: Medical dental vision life tele-health access state retirement plan paid time off and sick leave.
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree Human Resources experienceor administrator experiencepreferred.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Professional Development
- Design growth opportunities for educators addressing skill gaps and continuous learning.
- Managing Payroll and Benefits
Oversee compensation and manage employee benefits.
Change Management & Policy
Plan staffing and develop succession strategies to ensure stability. They also establish health and safety policies conduct risk assessments and initiate well-being programs for staff.
Talent Management
Recruiting and selecting qualified educators ensuring they align with the institutions needs. Manage the hiring process from recruitment to onboarding while maintaining legal and ethical standards.
Ensuring Compliance with Educational Employment Laws
Navigate complex education-specific employment laws. Current with regulations and ensure school practices comply. Working with the Union to solve problems.
Fostering a Positive School Culture
Creating a positive work environment is critical for employee satisfaction and retention. Boost morale and productivity in hopes of reducing absenteeism and turnover.
Navigating Budget Constraints and Resource Allocation
Budget constraints and resource allocation. Balancing financial pressures while trying to offer competitive salaries and benefits adds further complexity often forcing schools to prioritize immediate needs over long-term investments in teacher retention and growth.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Assisting theSuperintendent and school Principals in the area of human resources. This includes but is not limited to:
- Managing job posts
- Scheduling interviews
- Responsible for processing guest instructor and guest artist invoices and stipends in a timely fashion
- Maintenance and upkeep of employee files in the Unified Talent/PowerSchool System; including but not limited to:
- Tracking employee time off and absences
- Tracking hours of hourly employees
- Reporting bi-monthly payroll to the treasurers office
- Tracking mandatory staff training completion
- Tracking staff licensure and backgrounds checks
- Tracking and maintaining staff benefit enrollment
- Securely housing confidential HR paperwork
- Securely housing staff contracts (annual and supplemental)
- Compliance
- Responsible for upkeep of the Epicenter compliance system
- Uploading compliance documents in a timely fashion in collaboration with the administrative team
