Job Summary

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Assist with the planning administrative support and marketing of the SCS Relaxation Room Services
2. Utilization of evidence-based interventions ie. mindfulness meditation diaphragmic breathing progressive muscle relaxation and biofeedback with clients in the relaxation room
3. Facilitate workshops on campus as needed focused on reducing feelings of distress and improving coping
4. Develop resource materials for stress management for clients to use outside of SCS
5. Provide administrative support for SCS staff in developing the SCS stress management resources online
6. Researching & identifying new trends in University Counseling Center Relaxation Rooms & resources
7. Meeting weekly with w/ Relaxation Room coordinator
8. Performing other duties as assigned

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$1510 for 0.5 FTE appointment

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in Family Consumer Sciences Psychology College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) or Social Work.

Preferred Qualifications

Foundational knowledge of mental health and mental health interventions. Student Counseling Services values EDI (Equity Diversity Inclusion) and the Relaxation Room GA must be able to utilize these principles.

Work Hours

4-5 days per week (M-F) with late morning and early afternoon hours each day. Some evening hours (W) possible.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
