The purpose of this job is to lead the merchandising efforts across multiple categories of business to collaborate with leadership and cross functional teams to develop and deliver high quality products that generate consistent year over year sales and sustainable profit growth.
Essential Functions
- Lead multiple company category merchandising teams
- Provide strong leadership business strategy and product vision to a team of category managers and their direct reports
- Supervise train coach and mentor team members; regularly conduct performance evaluations and update succession plans
- Develop and execute both short and long term merchandising strategies that support the companys strategic growth plans
- Create and implement new concepts for product assortments and initiatives that generate continuous profitable growth
- Work in partnership with the Chief Merchant to ensure that category teams adhere to the merchandising calendar
- Develop and deliver products that support sales goals and ensure the companys relevance and competitiveness in the marketplace
- Research and analyze customer and competition trends within the industry to identify emerging products and services that will grow the company brand and drive sales within categories
- Collaborate with cross functional partners in store operations marketing customer relationship management and digital to develop category specific strategies that acquire and retain loyal customers
- Partner with multiple company teams to ensure that store design fixtures marketing advertising and related elements are all consistent with the merchandising strategy and overall brand direction
- Regularly visit company stores as well as competitors to identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement
- Model behaviors that support the companys common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules regulations policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in business or other related field required
- Minimum 15 years executive level retail merchandising experience required
- MBA preferred
