Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing the financial functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with EMCORs accounting policies procedures and practices. The CFO is also accountable for the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve Company assets and report accurate financial results.

Compensation Range: $235000 - $250000

This position is bonus eligible.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Possess and perform with an executive level knowledge and understanding of the financial accounting and operational functions of the organization and support the CEO and executive management team in achieving the organizations vision goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the J.C. Higgins CEO & President operating independently effectively and within the timelines of agreed upon initiatives.
  • Lead the accounting department in developing the processes/procedures necessary to ensure regulatory compliance proper records maintenance and adequate accounting controls in support of Company operations.
  • Prepare for and participate in monthly project reviews with CEO executive staff and project managers to evaluate job performance assess risks and develop action plans.
  • Support operations in managing cash flow on projects including developing and implementing a credit and collections policy and change order management.
  • Function as an advisor to the CEO on financial aspects of various contracts.
  • Collaborate with peers and employees to leverage shared knowledge among departments and sister companies.
  • Motivate and advance the accounting and finance department to ensure alignment with the Companys operational vision and able to empower direct reports to perform at even higher levels. Instill an attitude of service in the finance organization.
  • Practice and promote EMCOR and J.C. Higgins Code of Ethics Leading with Character in conducting business both internally and externally.
  • Oversight and additional Human Resources responsibilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The CFO is responsible for managing directing and leading the accounting and finance department which includes Payroll Human Resources and IT.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBA in accounting/finance or related academic discipline is strongly preferred and 10-15 years professional experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance; or
  • Bachelors degree required in accounting/finance or related academic discipline and 15-20 years professional experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance.
  • CPA accreditation preferred.
  • Human Resources experience / responsibilities preferred
  • Qualified candidate will possess industry and/or local market experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of FASB SOX IRS DBA Federal and State regulations as they apply to the essential functions of this position.
  • Familiarity with construction contract language including previous experience with Federal contracts terms and construction accounting.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Advanced computer/technical skills with various accounting applications (life cycle of the accounting and finance departments). Microsoft Office expertise including advanced Excel skills; experience with Viewpoint a plus. Strong technical skills will also be helpful for oversight of the company IT department.

This role requires communicating verbally and in writing one on one in small groups as well as presenting to larger groups of employees.

Requires ability to periodically drive or fly to visit J.C. Higgins work sites customers or attend company events.
