About the role

This role plays a key part in reducing waste and increasing resource recovery across the City of Hobart. It provides specialised advice delivers communityfocused communications and supports the implementation of strategic waste initiatives. Working closely with internal teams external partners and the community the role contributes to major outcomes under the Citys Waste Management Strategy City Resilience Unit Plan and Capital City Strategic Plan.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Support and deliver resource recovery projects including research feasibility work and project briefs.
  • Provide expert advice and create public communications on waste and recycling including social media content.
  • Identify and implement programs to reduce waste and improve recovery across City operations.

As our Waste Projects Officer Programs and Communications you will champion practical solutions that help the City lead the way in waste reduction and resource recovery. You will bring a strong understanding of waste management and resource recovery along with the ability to deliver projects provide clear communications and work collaboratively with the community and internal stakeholders.

The following are the essentials for the role:
  • Completion of a tertiarydegreequalification in a relevant field or relevant practical experience coupled withdemonstratedknowledge and experience in waste services project management communications and customer service.
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • Strong understanding of the circular economy resource recovery issues and practical solutions.
  • Welldeveloped project management communication and data interpretation skills to support programs and community engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinateconsultants contractors and education activities.
  • Experience and capability to develop communityfocused information prepare written content and support public communications.
