Job Description

Summary:
The main function of a manufacturing engineer is to apply engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout or manufacturing production. A typical manufacturing engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:
Study time motion methods and speed involved in maintenance production and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiency.

Interpret engineering drawings schematic diagrams or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

Read worker logs product processing sheets and specification sheets to verify that records adhere to quality assurance specifications.

Aid in planning work assignments in accordance with worker performance machine capacity production schedules and anticipated delays.

Prepare charts graphs and diagrams to illustrate workflow routing floor layouts material handling and machine utilization.

Skills:
Creativity verbal and written communication skills analytical and problem solving ability.

Team player and detail oriented.

Ability to make sketches engineering drawings and common computations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints technical drawing schematics and computer-generated reports.

Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in engineering required.
2-4 years of experience required.

Positions Contributions to Work Group:

  • This position will provide first responder support to Operations for the Lower Powertrain (LPT) Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team.

Team culture:

  • This team collaborates with one another to provide support to Operations in a fast-paced environment. We strive to identify the true root cause of problems and implement effective corrective actions with a sense of urgency.

Surrounding team & key projects:

  • This positions with work on a team of manufacturing system subject matter experts line manufacturing engineers and another first responder.

Purpose of the team:

  • The purpose of the team is to define and document the process and tooling needed to enable the Operations team to assemble LPT components in a manner that meets Safety Quality Velocity and Cost targets.

Typical task breakdown:

  • Create and maintain standard work
  • Create and maintain process visual aids
  • Create and maintain process flow diagrams

  • Provide assembly line support for identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Review and work assign Continuous Improvement tasks
  • Create purchase requisitions

Interaction with team:

  • This role will have a high level of interaction with team members and factory assembly workers daily.

Work environment:

  • Approximately half of the positions time will be spent in the factory wearing PPE. The other half of the positions time will be spent at a desk in an office.

  • (Preferred) Bachelors degree in engineering required with 2 years of experience required.
  • (Preferred) Masters degree in engineering required with 1 years of experience required.
  • (Will consider) Masters degree in engineering required with no experience.
  • (Will consider) Associates degree in engineering required with 5 years of experience required.
  • (Will consider) HS Diploma with 8 years of experience required.

Education Field Preference: Industrial engineering or Manufacturing/Engineering Technology degree
