A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer to join its Herndon Virginia office. This role is ideal for an engineer with 410 years of experience in water resources design and modeling who is looking to contribute to impactful infrastructure and transportation projects across Virginia.
The selected candidate will play a key role in stormwater management drainage design hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and erosion and sediment control design. This position works within a multi-disciplinary engineering team that supports major transportation and municipal infrastructure projects throughout the region.
The engineer will contribute to design development technical analysis and project coordination while also mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued growth of the Water Resources discipline within the office.

Develop drainage and stormwater management designs in accordance with project specifications and regulatory guidelines.
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software.
Design erosion and sediment control plans for transportation and municipal projects.
Analyze survey reports maps aerial photography and geospatial data to support project planning.
Technical Analysis
Conduct watershed studies and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis.
Perform modeling using software such as HEC-RAS HY-8 HydroCAD PCSWMM and TR-55/TR-20 methodologies.
Develop engineering solutions compliant with Virginia stormwater regulations.
Project Coordination
Assist in preparation of engineering reports plans specifications cost estimates and technical documentation.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams on transportation and infrastructure projects.
Coordinate with contractors consultants and government agencies.
Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
Assist with construction-phase engineering support.
Manage time effectively across multiple concurrent engineering projects.
