Position Summary
A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer to join its Virginia Beach team. This role supports transportation and municipal infrastructure projects through stormwater management drainage design hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and erosion and sediment control design.
The selected engineer will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment performing design work supporting project delivery mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with government agencies and project stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex water resources projects while growing into a future project leadership position.

Key Responsibilities
Design drainage systems and stormwater management solutions in accordance with regulatory and client requirements
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software
Conduct watershed studies and hydraulic analysis
Prepare engineering deliverables including plans reports specifications cost estimates and scopes of work
Coordinate with contractors consultants and public agencies
Analyze survey data maps aerial imagery and site conditions for project development
Support construction phase services and client requests
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
Manage multiple concurrent engineering assignments and deliver quality results within schedule and budget
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources emphasis) from an ABET-accredited program
5 years of Water Resources engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months
Hydrologic modeling experience using TR-55 / TR-20 and Rational Method
Hydraulic modeling experience using HEC-RAS HY-8 HydroCAD or similar tools
Experience with drainage and stormwater management design
Experience with erosion and sediment control design
Experience working with local and state government clients
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management Combined Administrator certification
Familiarity with VDOT and Locally Administered Project (LAP) requirements
Experience with GIS applications
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment (approximately 60%) with occasional field work supporting project sites. Field work may involve outdoor conditions including heat cold humidity or uneven terrain. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
