The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs CO is seeking a Research & Development Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 12-14 weeks in duration beginning in May 2026.
The R&D Engineering team performs research related to improving and optimizing the FOUP (Front Opening Unified Pod) purge. The intern will work on cutting-edge purge research apply fluid mechanics knowledge electro-mechanics innovation CAD design prototyping and testing.
The Advanced Materials Handling (AMH) Divisionfocuses on developingwafer transport and processing products used by integrated device makers (IDMs) original equipment makers (OEMs) and wafer growers in the semiconductor industry. Our customers demandhigh-quality consistent reliable and clean products to produce high-techdevices.
What Youll Do:
- Design various fixtures tools and aerodynamic features in SolidWorks.
- Useprinciplesof Fluid Mechanics to mathematically defend a design.
- Design optimize and validate flow simulations for FOUP purge.
- Prototypetest and iterate onvarious designsto achieve a desired outcome.
- Engage incutting-edge researchand data acquisition.
- Invent electromechanical machines to improve testing.
- Use Finite Element Analysisto verifya designandvalidateit usinghand calculations(solid mechanics)
- Engage in basic circuit design and electrical engineeringprinciples.
- Workwithateamof engineers tohelp solvechallengingproblems.
- Present findings toother engineers andupper management.
What We Seek:
- Desire to applyStatics Solid MechanicsandFluid Mechanicsknowledge
- Strong SolidWorks modeling abilities
- Coding capabilities(Arduinoand Python) preferred
- Software/Hardware interfaceunderstanding.
- MechanicalandElectrical Engineering knowledge
- Self-motivated to work with stakeholders to gather the requirements and scope of projects.
- Strong communication skills able to communicate across different teams/stakeholders
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Mechanical Engineering graduating in December 2026 or later
Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student
Available to work 40 hours a week M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in an internship program

Compensation: $20-$32 hourly range with actual pay dependent on graduation year and candidate skillset.
