What Youll Do
The Project Lead manages a variety of non-linear cross-functional projects in support of emerging and upcoming Production Equipment installs. This role will lead IMIS projects to include development and execution of planning scheduling budgeting and technical performance through final authorization of implementation. Position will also serve as a rapid response action officer for emerging issues needing immediate technical leadership and direct all aspects from implementation of corrective actions planning and scheduling. Position will play a leadership role in assisting the modernization of Y-12 factories and will require management of significant complex change initiatives in support of our continuous improvement culture. Significant interface within Y-12 Production organizations and including Programs Engineering Quality and System Health will be required.
Responsibility:
The Project Lead is responsible for:
- Management planning coordination and execution of Projects within Y-12 Production including Process Improvements and new equipment installations.
- Coordinating special initiatives critical to the success of Y-12 Production Operations by forming leading and participating in teams to drive resolutions and successful implementations.
- Ability to identify cross functional team members and delegate actions to be completed.
- Interface with Program Managers and Production Integration to ensure Program objectives remain on target with ongoing projects and work; including determining project risks capabilities establishing deliverables and driving accountability.
- Develop and presents presentations supporting Y-12 Production project deliverables on behalf of the Operations Health organization to various internal and external customers.
- Manages the development of technical solutions for customer requirements and ensures the technical specifications required for the customer are met.
- Performing assessments of operations facilities and processes to measure performance and identify deficiencies.
- Supporting occurrence reporting issues management and management assessments to ensure timely reporting investigations and identification of trends with cross cutting impacts for production.
- Ability to work independently to resolve project issues.
- Ability to understand utilize and implement basic Earned Value Management principles.
Accountabilities:
- To the IMIS Director for the timely and through execution of duties to lead production initiatives.
- To the assigned Production Director for execution of oversight and improvement initiatives within their facilities.
- To the Production employees for the implementation and effective execution of projects that support the achievement of performance excellence.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- OR Masters degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- OR PhD.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering/science discipline is preferred.
- Five or more years of Nuclear experience is preferred.
- Experience leading major projects or initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
- Leadership and/or significant support roles in a Nuclear facility is preferred.
- Possessing a knowledge of the principles of Conduct of Operations as described in DOE (Department of Energy) O 422.1 is preferred.
- Experience in Technical writing and Y-12 procedure process and/or Procedure compliance is preferred.
- Work history in interdisciplinary functions is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to generate and provide high level briefings to internal and external entities is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work complex change is strongly preferred.
- PMP certification is preferred.
