Job Summary

About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to further develop their research profile while working with world-class academics clinicians and stakeholders in multidisciplinary research addressing priorities in physical activity and child health. The Research Fellow will conduct research on the role of exercise in enhancing the health and quality of life of children and young adults living with chronic and complex health conditions. This position will be part of the Childrens Physical Activity Research Group and will contribute to externally funded projects while effectively managing research service and engagement activities aligned with UQs values and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Research

  • Plan and conduct data processing and secondary data analysis in collaboration with Chief and Associate Investigators.

  • Produce high-quality research outputs including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations with a lead role in selected outputs.

  • Contribute to joint research projects competitive grant applications and the translation of research into practice including knowledge transfer and commercialisation.

Supervision and researcher development

  • Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and support the development of researcher capability and performance through mentoring feedback and professional development.

  • Demonstrate effective people management in accordance with University policies and procedures.

Citizenship and service

  • Demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ values and contribute to team culture and priorities.

  • Participate in internal service roles committees and decision-making and support unit operations as required.

  • Develop and maintain effective external partnerships with industry government professional bodies and the wider community.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in exercise physiology physiotherapy public health or a closely related discipline.

  • A developing research profile in the discipline area with a growing track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.

  • Demonstrated experience using device-based measures of movement behaviours in children adolescents and young adults.

  • Evidence of contributing to the successful acquisition and management of external research funding.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team-based research initiatives with emerging leadership capability.

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in the documentation of research methods and outcomes.

  • A developing record of supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students to successful completion.

  • Experience contributing to internal service roles alongside engagement in relevant external activities.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks including: right to work in Australia criminal check and Blue Card Checks.
