Job Summary

Lower Merion School District is hiring an Assistant Director of Nutritional Services. The Assistant Director with the Director of Nutritional Services assists students in achieving their educational potential by providing nutritionally balanced meals in accordance with federal and state requirements. Assists in facilitating cooperation with education partners such as administrators teachers parents and students in implementing the district wellness policy. Maintains a cost-effective operation through effective supervision and food service personnel training.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in hiring training and evaluation of employees
  • Handle staff problems and concerns in a timely manner
  • Effectively plan organize and supervise the workload of staff members including daily staffing placements and substitutes
  • Assist in preparing in-service training to reinforce work methods sanitation and health standards
  • Direct the work of food service managers and staff
  • Monitor school cafeterias to assure measurements and offerings are in accordance with state federal and district regulations
  • Develop and maintain production records and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines
  • Work closely with vendors community members staff and other stakeholders
  • Review inventory records of food and equipment
  • Review daily deposits as well as other financial data
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and annual financial audit
  • Attend 504 and IEP meetings with nursing and educational staff for students with a food-related disability where requested

Educational/Experience/Other qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Hospitality/Food Service Management Nutrition/Dietetics or a Culinary Field is required or related fields
  • Management catering food services/production culinary arts professional experience required.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) Nutritionist credential strongly preferred but significant and successful management experience may be considered in lieu of RD credential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in food service environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products and Primero Edge

The District intends for the selected candidate to fill this position as soon as possible. This is a full time 12-month position. Salary and benefits consistent with the Lower Merion Organization of School Administrators agreement (Act 93). Expected salary range based on experience education and Districtbudget constraints is $75000-$100000.

Child abuse PA State Police and FBI Criminal Background Checks are required for all employees (dated no less than one year from date of hire). Physical is required and must be no less than one year old from date of hire. Current TB test required (within 3 months of date of hire).
