Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide safe therapeutic and evidence-based nursing care to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role requires strong assessment skills crisis intervention capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health care team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral and mental health conditions
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses
Implement and support individualized treatment and care plans
Utilize de-escalation techniques and maintain a safe therapeutic environment
Monitor patient behavior and intervene appropriately during crises
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical records
Collaborate with psychiatrists therapists social workers and nursing staff
Adhere to safety protocols infection control standards and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
Active New York State RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health or related nursing experience (preferred)
Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
Strong communication assessment and critical-thinking skills
Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner
Preferred Qualifications
Prior inpatient behavioral health experience
Experience using electronic medical record systems
