The Opportunity

The Rothwell Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (RCTLE) provides academic and instructional support for ERAUs Worldwide Campus aligning with the Universitys strategic plan specifically goal #3 Achieve academic excellence with exceptional programs and outstanding faculty. The Instructional Consultant II (Level 2) is responsible for guiding mentoring and developing faculty throughout their lifecycle with ERAU-W. This is accomplished through regular communication observation and individualized consultation that supports faculty as they prepare to teach when they are actively teaching and as they wrap-up teaching requirements. This can include reviewing courses to
ensure adherence to contractual agreements and evidence-based instructional practices engaging in dispute resolution by effective communication with academic advisors and college leadership as well as collaboration with college leadership to quickly address concerns and offer additional training opportunities. The Instructional Consultant II will serve as an expert in pedagogy instructional technology reflective teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning and as such is expected to actively and continuously engage in professional development activities to remain current in teaching and educational technology trends and stay up-to-date with Embry-Riddles curriculum instructional technology and policies.

The Instructional Consultant II will be responsible for training and mentoring new faculty by facilitating iTeachER the required faculty training experience and engaging in regular supportive communication with new faculty during their first term teaching. The Instructional Consultant II will also identify instructional opportunities and provide appropriate support through regular consultations with new and veteran faculty and in accordance with college recommendations. The Instructional Consultant II will support regular updates of existing resources or creation of new support materials to enhance instructional excellence based on the needs of RCTLE or the College Support Team as directed by the Associate Director. This can include ongoing optional offerings or additional resources. The Instructional Consultant II will also work with their college team to design deliver and evaluate college-specific resources and offerings to best meet the current goals of the college and the
strategic initiatives of the university.

Due to the dynamic nature of RCTLE the Instructional Consultant II must be flexible and able to work collaboratively both within the RCTLE team and with the other ERAU departments and colleges as needed to best serve the needs of the ERAU-W faculty thus positively impacting student success. For example the Instructional Consultant II will provide appropriate insights with Instructional Designers and Course developers by evaluating available and appropriate data and communicating trends concerns and strengths to enhance the instructional design and development process and support student success.

Required Education and Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Education Educational Leadership Educational Administration Instructional Technology Instructional Design or another related field.
• 3-5 years of related work experience

Required Skills Knowledge Abilities:

• At least three years of teaching experience preferably online higher education experience
• Excellent skills in performing administrative tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent research skills in the areas of evidence-based teaching practices.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with faculty RCTLE staff and staff in various positions.
• Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without close supervision.
